JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

LMF awards four-year musical Scholarships to children who have started learning an instrument and are making good progress, but whose families may struggle to afford ongoing provision.

We work in partnership with every London Music Service, who deliver bespoke schedules of high-quality musical activity for each Scholar, including:

Weekly instrumental tuition at a suitably challenging level, usually one-to-one or small groups.
_

A weekly ensemble of a suitably challenging level.
_

Regular performance opportunities at their school, Music Service and elsewhere.
_

A well-maintained instrument (hired) which can be taken home.
_

A named Mentor who is the liaison between the Scholar and family, music tutor, school and Music Service.

Eligibility

Nominees should:

Currently be in year 4 or 5 (going into year 5 or 6 in September).
_

Attend a non-fee-paying London school.

_

Demonstrate significant musical aptitude on an instrument that can be learned to a high level, taught individually or in a small group, and played in an ensemble.
_

Have received at least one year’s tuition on their nominated or related instrument.

_

Have demonstrated a commitment to attend lessons, ensemble rehearsals, workshops, and performances.
_

Have the potential to make substantial progress in music and benefit from all the activities a Scholarship offers.

Please do not underestimate the huge impact your awards have socially, emotionally, behaviourally, in supporting pupil well-being and really perhaps most significantly of all giving them access to a wider pool of adults in their lives that will fight their corners and support their families when things are tricky.
This is absolutely priceless and would not be possible without the LMF connection.

How Do I Apply?

Scholarship applications are submitted by London's Music Services, and children are usually
put forward by a teacher at their primary school. We cannot accept applications from parents/carers.

To find your local Music Service, and how to get in touch with them, please click the search link or speak to your child's music teacher/headteacher.
