Sophia’s jewellery sale for LMF

Last week we received some very lovely news. Sophia Shah, aged 8, organised a jewellery sale to fundraise for the London Music Fund.

8-year-old Sophia from Belsize Park plays the piano and viola, and feels that music is a very important part of her life. She decided she wanted to raise money for a charity that supports other children to learn music. Sophia enlisted the help of five of her classmates (who also play musical instruments) and together they made hundreds of necklaces and bracelets. At their sale last week they sold almost everything and raised an amazing £400!

We would like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to Sophia and her friends Lola, Olivia, Ava, Saesha and Emily (all Year 4s at Sarum Hall School) for their generosity, thoughtfulness and jewellery-making skills. You should all be extremely proud of yourselves. The money you raised will make a huge difference.

Sophia’s mum said: “All of these girls are friends in Year 4 and play musical instruments. They wanted to support other kids in London who are less fortunate than they are as they feel that music is an important part of their lives and want other kids to have the same experience of music. Sophia Shah, my daughter (aged 8), researched and chose your charity, as she wanted to raise money to support a music charity in London, organised the event, chose the friends she wanted to participate and each of them made 30-35 necklaces or bracelets. I’m glad it was a successful event and that they can help other children through the London Music Fund. They made so many items and sold the majority but they plan to do it again in a few months!”
