Meet the Performers – Patrick, Trumpet

Patrick, one of our 2017-21 Scholars with Havering Music School, will be performing as part of the brass ensemble at our concert on 7 May. Patrick made excellent progress during his LMF Scholarship, and his mum told us that his trumpet lessons became the ‘highlight of his week’!

Tell us about your experience of being a LMF Scholar

Without LMF I would not be playing trumpet. After my dad died, the funding allowed me to continue lessons. I have had so many happy experiences with LMF and my local hub (Havering Music School) to play in ensembles in a variety of locations. At school (Coopers Company and Coborn School) I play in a Big Band and an orchestra. This year I played The Last Post on Remembrance Day which was an honour.

What are you performing in the concert, and what are you looking forward to about the concert?

I am playing in the brass ensemble, I am excited to be part of the concert and I'm looking forward to watching my sister (who is a Senior Scholar too).

What does playing music mean to you?

Music helps me to relax. I enjoy playing when I have breaks in my study for GCSE. I play piano and violin too.

What impact do you think music has on the world?

Music brings friendship and peace to life.

Who are your biggest musical inspirations?

Frank Sinatra as he revolutionised the music I enjoy and created a happiness about jazz.

What is your dream performance?

Anything jazz related!
