LMF Scholars in the audience!

We’re so pleased to have been able to offer our Scholars free tickets to lots of inspiring concerts recently, thanks to the generosity of LMF’s friends and partners. On Saturday 30 April eight of our Scholars went to see the Riot Ensemble at King’s Place, and on Thursday 5 May 13 Scholars and their families saw Ayanna Witter-Johnson and friends perform at the Wigmore Hall. They all had a wonderful time. We absolutely love hearing from Scholars and their parents and carers about their experiences of going to these amazing concerts, some examples of which are below. We know that being in the audience can be just as inspiring for young musicians as taking to the stage, and we are so grateful to our partner organisations for offering us free tickets for our Scholars.

“I thought the Riot Ensemble was very inspirational and also very interesting because of the different instruments that were used as well as the relevance to lockdown. I thought the Ayanna Witter-Johnson concert was absolutely spectacular, the pieces of music told a story and it was so inspirational for me to start writing my own music. Ayanna was very talented.”

Suraya, 12-year-old Scholar from Ealing

“I enjoyed both performances (Riot Ensemble and Ayanna Witter-Johnson) they all told a story, it was inspirational. I really enjoyed meeting the performers after the Riot Ensemble concert because it gave me a chance to ask questions and to talk which I really liked. Thank you for giving is the chance to meet the amazing musicians it has been a great experience."

Sienna, 12-year-old Scholar from Ealing

“We were absolutely mesmerised by the concert last night. Thank you again. It was just brilliant- no words to describe it.”

We also love the above photos of Jason, one of our Scholars from Barking & Dagenham, at the Wigmore Hall. His mum told us:

“Jason and I had a fantastic time last night Jason has found a new artist he admires. He was also over the moon to see Jess Gillam perform especially after she presented him with the certificate!”
