LMF Launches the Intermediate Scholarship

The London Music Fund is delighted to announce the launch of its new Intermediate Scholarship Programme, beginning in September 2026.

The Intermediate Scholarship — generously funded by the Foyle Foundation — is for committed, high-achieving Scholarship graduates who would like to continue their musical learning. This pilot scheme will offer a fifth year of funding (£1,000 per Scholar) for up to twenty graduating Scholars annually, who have made exceptional progress in their Scholarship but would struggle to meet the ongoing costs of tuition.

Supporting Sustained Musical Excellence

The Intermediate Scholarship will enable recipients to continue accessing high-quality musical opportunities, including:

  • Weekly instrumental tuition at an appropriately challenging level, ideally on a one-to-one basis

  • Participation in a suitably challenging weekly ensemble

  • Regular performance opportunities at school, Music Service and beyond

  • Invitations to special projects, LMF Playing Days, and trips to professional concerts

  • Access to a well-maintained instrument for home use

  • Support from a named Mentor, acting as liaison between the Scholar, family, tutor, school and Music Service

  • Contributions towards travel costs, exam fees, sheet music and other reasonable related expenses

By extending support at this crucial transition point, LMF aims to ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent talented young musicians from fulfilling their potential.

The Intermediate Scholarship Programme is open to Junior Scholars who graduated from their Scholarship in July 2025, or will be graduating from their Scholarship in July 2026.

Please note that we do not accept applications from parents/carers. Nominations are made via London’s Music Services.
