As the London Music Fund celebrates its 15th anniversary, we are proud to highlight the remarkable progress of Senior Scholar Nathan-Asher, who first joined the LMF community ten years ago. Nathan-Asher became an LMF Junior Scholar in 2016 as a drummer and percussionist, graduating in 2020, and later returned as a Senior Scholar from 2023 to present, adding alto saxophone and jazz piano to his musical repertoire.
Nathan-Asher - LMF Junior Scholarship
In April, Nathan-Asher performed at our 15th Anniversary Celebration Concert at Smith Square Hall. Prior to taking the stage at our anniversary concert, Nathan-Asher completed a series of school-level competitions with exceptional success:
School Instrumental Competition: In March, Nathan-Asher secured first place in the highly competitive Grade 8+ Drums category. He also performed with a band he drums in, in the Upper School Rock & Pop Competition, earning a joint-first victory.
Musician of the Year: In April, Nathan-Asher delivered a compelling performance that earned him a prestigious Commendation, one of only two Commendations given.
School Ensembles Concert: Later in April, Nathan-Asher demonstrated his range, by performing drum kit with the Concert Band and alto saxophone with the Jazz Orchestra.
Now in the final year of his Senior Scholarship, Nathan‑Asher will mark this stage of his journey with a significant musical highlight, This June, he will co‑lead a headline Jazz Concert, an hour-long performance with a pianist collaborator, at his school’s annual Festival on The Close.
Nathan‑Asher’s family shared a heartfelt reflection on the support that has shaped his growth as a young musician during his ten years with the LMF:
“As a family, we really appreciate and thank the LMF Family: Founders, Funders, Ambassadors & Staff (past & present), and Scholar friends for all the support and enabling Nathan-Asher in his music journey these past 10 years.”
Nathan-Asher’s scholarship journey demonstrates that with encouragement and the right opportunities, young people can discover their strengths, grow as performers, and unlock potential that lasts for a lifetime.
We could not be more proud of Nathan‑Asher’s remarkable achievements, and it has been a joy to watch him grow into the accomplished young musician he is today. We look forward to seeing where his musical path leads him next.
