A Conversation with Georgina - Senior Scholar 25/26
Georgina Hill cannot only make her violin sing, but also her words. In an interview, she shared her views all about the importance of music, London Music Fund, and the upcoming concert in April.

When asked why music matters to her, Georgina replied:
“Music matters to me because it is a way to express myself when I can’t always find the words or gestures necessary otherwise. It is a way to connect with others, across cultures and differences. Each performance and live concert is different, and you have to be there to truly experience it.”
London Music Fund’s mission to transform under-served communities by enabling children to access high-quality music education is not just about encouraging children to pick up an instrument. It also enables children to grow the confidence and encouragement to problem-solve, develop community, and connect, and aspire to build careers they can truly celebrate. Georgina reflected how music is a form of self-expression and connection for her, as with so many of our Scholars.
Georgina is graduating from her London Music Fund Senior Scholarship this summer, having acquired not only Grade 8 in ABRSM, but also an understanding of “the value and rewards of hard work and […] the joy of making music with and for others”.
All-round development is very important and effective in our Scholarship programme, which is something we will be celebrating at our 15th Anniversary Gala Concert at Smith Square Hall on 27 April. We are lucky enough to have Georgina sharing a short speech about her journey as both a Junior and Senior Scholar with us. In her performance of a group composition with the other Scholars, with the string ensemble, and in her speech, you can hear all about the impact that music education has on young people today.
Georgina told me that she needs her “daily dose of music to feel happy, energised, and ready to face the world”. Join us at Smith Square Hall to celebrate and hear our young musicians, like Georgina.
