Inspirational projects

Since 2011 we have supported more than 80 inspirational projects reaching over 12,000 young people.

These ambitious music education projects across a diverse range of genres provide 7-18 year olds with outstanding opportunities to perform alongside top professional musicians in iconic venues. You can read about the Partnership projects we have funded, and their legacies, below.

We welcome applications from London Music Hubs, for inspiring partnership projects in collaboration with professional arts organisations. Grants are awarded for up to £15,000 per project, and must be led by one London music service with at least one other professional partner.

Current Partnerships

Inspiration Weekend - Croydon Music and Arts

Inspiration Weekend is a collaborative youth orchestra project between Croydon Music and Arts, Trinity Music Academy and The Chineke! Foundation. Over 100 young orchestral musicians from the Croydon Youth Orchestra and Trinity Music Academy will work towards a performance alongside professional players from The Chineke! Orchestra.

Swingin’ Strings - Barnet Education Arts Trust

Swingin’ Strings is a partnership between Barnet Education Arts Trust, Tomorrow’s Warriors and artsdepot. The project will combine the realms of classical and jazz, creating a fusion ensemble that inspires musicians of all backgrounds to explore aspects of music such as improvisation. The project will see the creation of a diverse cross-genre ensemble of up to 30 students, culminating in a final concert in July at artsdepot.

Future Brass - Sutton Music Trust

Future Brass is a collaboration between Sutton Music Trust and the Philharmonia Orchestra. The project aims to engage 40 Year 5 students from four diverse primary schools in a brass focused project which centers on student empowerment and participation, actively involving the pupils in the creative decision making process and using creative tools to bring their musical ideas to life.

Exchanging Notes - Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Service

Exchanging Notes is a partnership between THAMES, Grand Union Orchestra, Shoreditch Town Hall and Sound Connections to inspire, support and consult young people to develop their musical proficiency, creativity and confidence, particularly around composition, instrumental technique, cultural awareness and leadership.

Ensembles East - Waltham Forest Music Service

Ensembles East is a partnership between Waltham Forest Music Service, East London Music Group and The Music Halls Project. The project will support instrumental progression and enhance the musical experience of children by helping schools to build and embed ensembles as part of their extracurricular offer.

Jazz Hang ‘Sounds of the Next Gen’– Lewisham Music

Lewisham Music, Tomorrow’s Warriors and Trinity Laban will collaborate to inspire and support more young people of diverse backgrounds to discover jazz and feel better connected with the vibrant, collaborative and boundary-pushing jazz scene in Lewisham.
